B ROLL AND VNR
Often at the end of a Video News Release (VNR) there will be additional unedited video footage, that a news producer can use to add to the VNR or to make his own segment about the story. This is called B Roll.
And a B Roll can be sent to a station, without a VNR. This gives an opportunity for the station to cover an event or news story without having sent a cameraman. They will use footage from the B Roll and have the newscaster report on the story.
Sending B Roll to the stations that want to cover the event but find that they cannot make it, is a great way to further PR opportunity.
