GACACA; A new model of transitional justice - Rwanda
The main task of the people who have to mend the tissues of a society that has been completely torn is to eradicate that culture of impunity, thus setting the path to social cohesion and future development of the Country. It was therefore necessary to use a one of a kind justice system, inspired by the traditional Rwandan system of settling disputes and the aim of which was, not only the punishment of the guilty person, but also and above all
social harmony and cohesion.
